Navigating pregnancy requires trusted, expert support every step of the way. Therefore, Athena Women’s Clinic in Perth offers a complete Pregnancy Care Package. During your pregnancy, we offer regular appointments with our dedicated Midwife or GP Obstetrician.
At our practice, the GP Obstetrician works collaboratively with the midwife. As a united team, they actively assist you with your pregnancy. Furthermore, our professionals check that you and your baby remain well, giving you the necessary support and information to help you make confident, informed choices.
Please note: While this comprehensive package covers your extensive antenatal and postnatal appointments, it does not include the actual baby delivery.
Because every journey remains unique, the frequency of these visits varies from woman to woman. We also readily adjust this frequency if your circumstances change during the pregnancy. Ultimately, the final decision regarding who you choose to see stays completely with you, the patient. After each appointment, we ensure you know exactly when your next one occurs, where it takes place, and who will conduct it.
The following structured timeline offers a basic guideline of who you will see, when you will visit, and what will occur.
1st Visit: You meet with our Doctor to discuss the Athena Women’s Clinic model of care. We measure your blood pressure, urine, weight, height, and BMI. Additionally, your doctor provides request forms for antenatal serology and your dating scan or first-trimester ultrasound.
12 Weeks: You meet with our Midwife. We provide your pregnancy health record and ask you to complete your details. Our team also discusses the clinic’s model of care with you again.
14 Weeks: Your Doctor discusses the results of your earlier tests and any maternal serum screening. We also review your purple pregnancy health record and provide the request form for your 18-20 week ultrasound scan.
20+ Weeks: You can see either the Doctor or Midwife for a 30-minute appointment. We conduct an antenatal examination—including blood pressure, urine, weight, and abdominal palpation—and auscultate the fetal heart. We also discuss your past medical and obstetric history.
24 Weeks: Our Midwife performs your antenatal examination and completes your pregnancy health record. We provide maternal counselling, discuss infant feeding, and offer a referral to a lactation midwife if you wish. Our team also requests your 26-28 week bloods, including a full blood count, Rhesus Antibody screen, and Diabetes screen.
28 Weeks: You consult with your Doctor for an antenatal examination and a discussion of your recent blood results. We also administer the 1st dose of Anti D for Rhesus-negative women.
30 Weeks: We perform a standard 20-minute antenatal examination.
32 Weeks: Our Midwife conducts a 30-minute antenatal examination and repeats your EPDS assessment.
34 Weeks: Your Doctor performs another comprehensive antenatal examination.
36 Weeks: You meet with the Midwife for an antenatal examination. We then provide request forms for a Group B Streptococcus Screen, full blood count, and Ferritin levels.
37 Weeks Onwards: You transition to weekly visits with either Athena Women’s Clinic or the hospital.
Our commitment to your family continues well after your baby arrives. Our structured postnatal care ensures you recover safely and confidently.
5 Days: A hospital midwife visits you five days post-delivery.
7 to 10 Days: You visit our Doctor to initiate our specific postnatal model of care.
14 Days: Our Midwife follows up on your Child Health Nurse (CHN) appointment. We debrief your birthing experience and happily present you with a post-birth gift.
2 to 6 Weeks: If you experience any concerns during this time, you can easily book an appointment with either our Doctor or Midwife.
6 Weeks: You attend a comprehensive 30-minute check with both the Doctor and Midwife. We meticulously check Mum and Baby individually, administer baby immunizations, and provide dedicated lactation support.
Our comprehensive package, priced at $3000, covers your regular antenatal and postnatal appointments with our Midwife and GP Obstetrician. Please note that while this package provides extensive care before and after birth, it does not include the actual baby delivery.
