At Athena Women’s Clinic, we are invested in providing culturally competent, caring and holistic care for women.
When you book an appointment to discuss contraception, we will work with you to identify the best choice for you.
This means that we will consider several factors, including:
We follow an evidence-based approach to determine your best treatment options. Once we have reviewed your options, we will support you to make a choice that you are happy and comfortable with.
Once you have decided on the contraceptive method you would prefer, we are able to assist you with a prescription or insertion of a device. Our services include
These services are provided with a local anaesthetic to reduce discomfort. We will provide you with information about any side effects that you may experience and will support you to monitor how well it works for you.
You will also be offered a pap smear and cervical health screening when you are having an IUD inserted, which is a valuable opportunity to check for potential health risks such as cervical cancer.
When you come into the office to discuss contraceptives, it is also a great opportunity to check in on your reproductive health. We will often assist you to do a comprehensive health assessment to look for common reproductive health concerns such as:
We keep all of your services private and confidential and have a small boutique practice where you will receive thoughtful and individualised care. We have predominantly female staff and GPs with a special interest in women’s health.
Our practice aims to be a safe space for women and provide culturally competent practice to women from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
You do not require a referral to see one of our GPs. We provide a non-corporate, thoughtful and caring environment for women who are looking to care for their reproductive health.
If you wish to have a Doctor visit you outside our business hours, please contact WADMS on 9321 9133.
